The last date for submission of applications is 15th July 2009. To be eligible for this programme, a minimum aggregate of 50% at the 10+2 or equivalent examination is required. ManipalCollege of Medical Sciences (MCOMS), Nepal was established in 1994. The institute is a result of collaboration between Manipal Group and the Government of Nepal. Affiliated to the Kathmandu University MCOMS is recognized across the world, for its high standards of excellence. Rated as Nepal’s institute of choice, MCOMS has been accorded recognition by the Medical Councils of Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Mauritius, besides being accredited by the California Medical Boards & New York State Medical Board.

MCOMS functions from two campuses. The Deep campus, spread on 8 acres of wooded land, houses the basic sciences departments, hostels and other facilities for Basic Sciences students. In the 30 acre Phulbari campus, is located the 700 Bed Manipal Teaching Hospital (MTH),clinical teaching departments, and hostels for clinical students. The quality of service provided is of an international standard. MTH has been constructed with a futuristic approach laying emphasis on the space required for teaching programs for undergraduates, postgraduates and allied health manpower.
The four and a half years of the MBBS course is divided into nine semesters, each, six months in duration. On successful completion of the 4 ½ year MBBS degree course the student has to undergo one year of compulsory residential, rotating internship. All Indian national students who are seeking admission at MCOMS and are subsequently interested in practicing in India on graduation will be required to obtain the ‘eligibility certificate’ from the Medical Council of India prior to their enrollment at MCOMS and will have to clear the screening test, after obtaining their degree certificate, in order to practice upon their return to India

WORLD PEAECE STUPA

A Peace Pagoda is a Buddhist stupa designed to provide a focus for people of all races and creeds, and to help unite them in their search for world peace. Most (though not all) have been built under the guidance of Nichidatsu Fujii (1885-1985), a Buddhist monk from Japan and founder of the Nipponzan-Myōhōji Buddhist Order. Fujii was greatly inspired by his meeting with Mahatma Gandhi in 1931 and decided to devote his life to promoting non-violence. In 1947, he began[1] constructing Peace Pagodas as shrines to World peace.

The first Peace Pagodas were built as a symbol of peace in the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki where the atomic bombs took the lives of over 150,000 people, almost all of whom were civilian, at the end of World War II.
By 2000, 80 Peace Pagodas had been built around the world in Europe, Asia, and the United States.

The Peace Pagoda was awarded the Courage of Conscience award June 5, 1998 in Sherborn, MA.[2]

World Peace Pagoda, Pokhara, NepalBalanced on a narrow ridge high above Phewa Tal, the brilliant-white World Peace Pagoda in Pokhara QTVR is a massive Buddhist stupa which was constructed by Buddhist monks from the Japanese Nipponzan Myōhōji organisation. Besides being an impressive sight in itself, the shrine is a vantage point which offers spectacular views of the Annapurna range and Pokhara city. There are three paths up to the pagoda and several small cafes once you arrive.

FEWA LAKE

Phewa Lake, Phewa Tal or Fewa Lake is a lake of Nepal located in the Pokhara Valley near Pokhara and Sarangkot. It is the second largest lake in Nepal and lying at an altitude of 784 m (2,572 ft) it covers an area of about 4.43 km2 (1.7 sq mi) with an average depth of about 8.6 m (28 ft) with maximum water depth is 22.8 m (75 ft) when measured with echo-sounder (depth measuring gauge; PLASTIMO ECHOTEST II) on 5 December 2009. Maximum water capacity of the lake is approximately 46 million cubic meters (37,000 acre feet).[1] Annapurna looms in the distance from the lake and the lake is famous for the reflection of Mount Machapuchare on its surface. The holy Barahi mandir (temple) is situated on the island located in between in the lake.

The eastern Pokhara Valley receives irrigation water through a canal running from a reservoir by the Seti River in the north of the city. Phewa Lake is also used for commercial fishing. The tourist area is along the north shore of the lake (Lake Side and Dam Side). It is mainly made up of little shops, little hotels, restaurants and bars. The larger hotels can be found on the southern and south-eastern fringes of the Pokhara city, from where the view of the mountains, mainly Machapuchare, or Fishtail Mountain, is seen best. To the east of the valley are few smaller and few bigger lakes, the largest being Begnas Tal and Rupakot Tal. Begnas Tal is also known for its fishery projects.

Phewa Lake was slightly enlarged by damming. It is in danger of silting up because of the inflow during the monsoon. The outflowing water is partially used for hydro power. The dam collapsed in the late 1970s and it was rebuilt by the Chinese. The power plant is located about 100 m (330 ft) below at the bottom of the Phusre Khola gorge.
